The 20th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan was celebrated in the UAE

ON DECEMBER 7, 2011 ON THE TERRITORY OF THE EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN IN THE UAE, AN OFFICIAL RECEPTION HAPPENED ON THE OCCASION OF THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN.

The ceremony was attended by over 500 guests, including ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the UAE, authoritative public figures and businessmen of the host country, heads of various companies, representatives of the media, as well as Kazakhstani people working and studying in United Arab Emirates.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates, Askar Musinov, gave a welcoming speech and informed the guests about the achievements of Kazakhstan over 20 years of independence. In particular, it was noted that, thanks to the policy of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, N. A. Nazarbayev, who won a landslide victory in the early presidential elections in April 2011, Kazakhstan became a recognized and respected state on the world stage.

In turn, the honorary guest from the Emirate’s side, UAE Minister of Justice Dr. Hadef al-Zahiri praised the level of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and the UAE and emphasized the rapidly growing role of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the international arena. Hadef al-Zaheri noted with satisfaction the work of Kazakhstan as chairman of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, and also wished our country further prosperity on behalf of the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Askar Musinov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates, noted that in June this year Kazakhstan took the high post of chairman of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the countries-members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Kazakhstan's chairmanship of the 38th OIC Session is an objective result of the country's successes over 20 years of independence in building an economically strong and dynamically developing democratic state. The successful completion of the goals and objectives of the Republic of Kazakhstan aimed at the comprehensive development of cooperation with the Islamic world was evidenced by the holding of the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum in Astana this June, which is also known in the world as the "Islamic Davos".

The Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates are consistently taking their bilateral relations to a new, higher level, which is confirmed by the special, fraternal relations between the President of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev and the President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Askar Musinov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UAE, emphasized that 2012 will also be a landmark event in the history of Kazakh-Emirate relations, in connection with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states.

Despite the consequences of the global financial and economic crisis, Kazakhstan and the UAE continue to actively develop trade, economic and investment cooperation. In November 2011, the 5th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Emirate Intergovernmental Commission was held in Abu Dhabi, and the third round of political consultations between the foreign ministries was held.

Important intergovernmental agreements were signed between Kazakhstan and the UAE on visa-free travel for citizens of the two countries with diplomatic passports, as well as on cooperation in the field of security. Following the results of bilateral negotiations within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission, agreements were reached on signing a number of other intergovernmental agreements in the near future.

On behalf of the heads of state, work continues on the implementation of joint projects, including the participation of the emirate company Mubadala Development in the development of the N oil field in the Caspian Sea and the construction of the multifunctional shopping complex Abu Dhabi Plaza in Astana. The joint investment fund “Falah Growth Fund”, as well as the first Islamic bank Al-Khilal in the post-Soviet space, are successfully operating.

In the city of Shymkent, the construction of the perinatal center has been completed, and the implementation of the facility of the Central Mosque is nearing completion. An important role in enhancing trade, economic and investment cooperation between our countries is assigned to business circles, businessmen, and representatives of small and medium-sized businesses. The 2nd meeting of the Kazakhstan-Emirate Business Council was held in Abu Dhabi in April this year, and there is hope that in 2012 the next meeting of business circles of the two countries will be held in Kazakhstan. At the end of the speech, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UAE once again thanked all the guests for the invitation and wished peace and prosperity to the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The guests were presented with a special concert program performed by the folk ensemble "Kerbez Sulu" from Kazakhstan. In addition, on a large screen, guests could watch a video slideshow on Kazakhstani-Emirate relations, as well as the achievements of the Republic of Kazakhstan over the years of independence.
