In his speech, Mr. Ambassador of the Russian Federation Andrei Andreev noted with satisfaction the successful development of Russian-Emirate relations. It was emphasized that our countries share a common vision of many global problems, a high level of trust and mutual understanding, as well as a joint desire to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation. Turnover is growing, which for the first time exceeded the $ 1 billion mark last year; a number of large joint projects are being implemented. More than 400 companies with Russian participation are actively working in the Emirates, as well as a large Russian diaspora with more than 15 thousand Russians. The Russian-Emirate Business Council and the Council of Russian Entrepreneurs in the UAE have been created and are expanding their activities.
Further A.V. Andreev noted that the fact that 2011 is a jubilee year for Russian-Emirate diplomatic relations gives a special flavor and solemnity to the celebration of Russia Day in the UAE; which marks 40 years in 2011.
The official part of the reception was successfully supplemented by a cultural program. A symbol of the warm and close ties between Russia and the UAE, the friendship of the two countries was largely the extraordinary and highly professional performance of the Russian-Emirate duo - the Russian pianist Yulia Podsekaeva and the famous Emirate performer of traditional music on the national instrument oud Faisal al-Hemeyri al-Ali. The magnificent performance of Russian harpist Olga Efimova did not go unnoticed either. Of great interest to the guests of the event was the exposition of the paintings "Arab Woman through the Eyes of the Russian", drawn especially for this day by the talented artist Julia Maltseva. Throughout the evening, videos on Russia, its history and achievements were broadcast on the big screen. All those present had the opportunity to try dishes of Russian national cuisine: pancakes with red caviar, pies, cabbage rolls, buckwheat porridge and various pickles.
The reception received a wide response in local socio-political circles and the media of the UAE.
