Closer Middle

What is going on there? Alarmed parents called me with this question. I think that not only me. And I was going to congratulate them on the Day of Defender of the Fatherland and the upcoming March 8th. At first I was a little bewildered, and then I keenly felt how much, without exception, in the world today, events in the countries of the Middle East are worried. Leading news feeds are full of reports of unrest in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Bahrain, and other countries. Diplomats, employees of large companies and tourists are taken home and in the near future they offer to refuse to travel to the "hot" region. What is there to answer? To say that this is far from the Emirates, and does not concern us? You can’t say so, because if Egypt is not geographically located very close to the UAE, then it’s a stone's throw to Bahrain. By the way, the King of Bahrain officially announced the cancellation of the annual Formula 1 races, scheduled for March, due to the turbulent situation. Sorry, very sorry, because what a wonderful event! And what kind of participants ... were.

However, in the United Arab Emirates and neighboring Qatar and Oman, there is peace and quiet, the height of the tourist season in all its manifestations, that is, the sun, sea, beaches, festivals and shows. And if someone saw military equipment a couple of times on the main highways of the UAE, it was only because the capital Abu Dhabi hosted the two largest exhibitions of defense technologies and modern weapons on land and water in the last week of February - IDEX 2011 and NAVEX 2011 , traditionally involving specialists from around the world, including Russia and the CIS, to participate. And yet, no matter how far we are from big-time politics, those who died in the riots are insanely sorry, those who are unable to earn money and live worthily in their native countries are even more sympathetic. And I want to hope that someday the passions will settle down in this troubled, multinational and multi-confessional region, sharply reacting to any injustice towards our neighbor, and in which you and I have to live and work. Here and now.

And since life is going on in the Emirates, we continue to work and tell you about what is happening here, finally, answering the questions of all parents in the world. Do not worry dear! We are fine. The next Dubai Trade Festival has ended, and the World Village has celebrated its 15th anniversary. The best tennis players and tennis players in the world competed for the Dubai Tennis Cup. New hotels and elite real estate projects continue to be built and opened. Soon, they say, they will begin to design and build the third phase of the Dubai Metro. Every month, the tourist flow to all emirates is increasing, largely due to the work of low-cost air carriers and more reasonable hotel rates. Preparations are under way for the Dubai Art Festival 2011 in Dubai and the international music event Abu Dhabi Festival, which will bring together the leading stars of the Russian opera and ballet scene. The number of concerts of pop singers and theme parties in numerous night clubs breaks all conceivable records. And at the end of March, everyone is waiting for the next stage of the annual Dubai World Cup in horse racing with a prize fund of $ 25 million! And this is just the little that lies on the surface. And do not be afraid of the phrase “Middle East” that sounds a hundred times a day from TV screens. Yes, while everything is not very simple here, but there are many other interesting things in the world without politics, as our colleagues say in the program "Other News" on Channel One. Take a closer look at the Middle East. It is warm, and dates are growing, there is sea, beaches and everything that is understood as luxurious and exotic relaxation, there are no tsunamis and destructive earthquakes, and delicious chocolates are made from camel milk. Every guest who comes in peace is welcome here. Get closer. And the Near will meet you with his inherent cordiality. Ahlyan!

Sincerely yours,

Elena Olkhovskaya
