A library for children will open in Abu Dhabi next year

In the capital of the United Arab Emirates, a children's library opens with a museum and incredible design space.

Next March, the list of cultural attractions of Abu Dhabi, such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, will be updated with a children's library.

Muhammad Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi, said: “The Abu Dhabi Children's Library will provide creative opportunities for digital interaction and emphasize the role of the library as an important and welcoming place for children in the local community. It will also enable us to support the development of the Arab "literacy and creative programs that will enrich and improve learning outside of school. We hope to inspire a new generation of readers."

The library is located in the Qasr al Hosn building. The restored fort will also house the museum and the Cultural Foundation.

"We design its space like a child would design its library," says Al Mubarak.

Three floors of the library will focus on three different age groups, and a separate topic will be selected for each of them.

“Children can be surrounded by plush camels and sand dunes and imagine that they are in the middle of the UAE desert. Or they may be riding a dinosaur,” Al Mubarak explains.

The assortment of the library will include fiction, graphic novels, audio books and autobiographies. Various programs will focus on the study of art, film and music.

Children will have the opportunity to demonstrate their own work, putting them on the court of adult library visitors.
